Traditional Sardinian Restaurant in Monti — 20 Minutes from Olbia

Our Story: A Journey of Taste and Excellence
Trattoria Locanda Stella sits on Via Roma in Monti, a quiet village in the Gallura region of northeastern Sardinia, just twenty minutes from Olbia. What started as a simple family kitchen has grown into one of the most loved restaurants in the area — rated 4.7 stars on TripAdvisor and the #1 restaurant in Monti. But the spirit has never changed. This is still Teresa and Valerio's table, and every guest is treated like family.
Traditional Gallurese Cuisine, Made by Hand
Teresa cooks every dish from scratch using recipes rooted in Gallurese tradition. The pasta — gnocchi, bucatini, ravioli — is rolled fresh each morning. The meats, cheeses, eggs, and vegetables come from small local farms. According to the season, wild herbs and fresh mushrooms are foraged from the surrounding hillsides. The wines are local too: Vermentino di Gallura for white, Cannonau for red. Nothing is imported, nothing is rushed. Just honest Sardinian food made the way it has always been made.
A Place Worth the Detour
The dining room is small — just a handful of tables, a crackling fireplace, and the sound of jazz in the background. Valerio welcomes you at the door, knows every dish and every wine, and makes sure your glass is never empty. Prices are honest, portions are generous, and you'll leave with a complimentary digestivo. Whether you're driving from Olbia, the Costa Smeralda, or the ferry port, Trattoria Locanda Stella is the kind of place people come back to every year.
